SIOR Foundation Announces Bill Ginder as its New President
Washington, D.C.; October 30, 2016 – David Hagan, SIOR, CCIM, and Immediate Past President of SIOR Foundation announced that Bill Ginder, SIOR, CCIM, is the new SIOR Foundation President for the 2017-2018 term. The leadership transition occurred last week at the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors® (SIOR) Fall World Conference in Chicago. SIOR is the world’s largest and most prestigious association of commercial real estate brokers.
The SIOR Foundation promotes and funds programs that advance the real estate profession through educational scholarships, critical research projects, publishing and development of real estate curricula for higher education. The charitable giving supports students enrolled in college undergraduate and graduate real estate studies and in pursuit of degrees associated with commercial real estate.
“Broadly speaking, during my tenure as Foundation President I plan to continue our core mission which is to enhance and expand our programs with an ever greater focus on education – both to our own membership and also to the colleges and universities that the Foundation supports. I’d like to grow the matching funds program, particularly in markets that have more than one university with active undergraduate and graduate-level real estate programs. And I would also like the Foundation to become more engaged with small chapters throughout the U.S.,” said Bill Ginder.
The SIOR Foundation awarded grants totaling $162,000 for fiscal year 2016-2017 (which runs Sept. 1 to August 31). Funds are distributed as matching scholarships with Chapters and in programs such as the Student Real Estate Experience Program, SIOR Report Authors Grant, SIOR Speaker Grants, and research grants. Participating colleges have included Saint Louis University, the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Connecticut, Clemson University, Northwestern University, York University (Canada), UCLA, USC, and many others.
Bill Ginder is a Senior Vice President/Brokerage Services with Caldwell Companies in Houston, Texas. He brings more than 30 years of experience in industrial distribution and managing facilities throughout the Southwest. Bill works with new and existing Caldwell Companies clients to help them select, manage and complete real estate transactions that serve to enhance their company’s business objectives. Bill has received many awards for achievement in sales and contributions to his community such as the 2003 ProLogis Broker of the Year, the Houston Business Journal Heavy Hitter Award, the 2005 Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, and the 2006 Greenspoint Management District Community Spirit Award, to name a few. A North Houston resident, Bill is involved in numerous community endeavors and organizations.
The four other 2017-2018 SIOR Foundation Officers are Aaron Barnard, SIOR, CCIM, as President Elect (Cushman & Wakefield/Northmarq in Minneapolis, MN.), Chris Curtis, SIOR, as Vice President (Nugent Curtis Real Estate in Kankakee, IL.) and Stan Kleweno, SIOR Associate Member, with Transpacific Investments (Lake Oswego, OR.) will continue his two-year term as Treasurer. David Hagan, SIOR, CCIM, with CBRE in Greensboro, NC. is now the foundation’s Immediate Past President.
About SIOR Foundation
SIOR Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) not‐for‐profit organization that solicits and accepts charitable contributions, which are tax deductible for income estate and gift‐tax purposes. Established in 1962 as the Society of Industrial REALTORS® Educational Fund (SIREF), the organization’s original purpose was to publish the industry’s first graduate-level textbook on industrial real estate. When the Society was expanded to Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS® in 1985, the Fund became the SIOREF. In 2006, the SIOREF broadened its scope to provide future support to SIOR members and communities. At that time, it also adopted a new mission and changed its name to the SIOR Foundation. As the Foundation recently celebrated its 55th anniversary in 2017 it continues to develop and promote educational initiatives, as well as working to enhance and expand the commercial real estate community in a variety of ways.
