The SIOR Minnesota Chapter has partnered with the SIOR Foundation and the University of St. Thomas to fund two $12,000 annual scholarships. The grants will be awarded to undergraduate students enrolled at St. Thomas' Opus College of Business working towards a BS in Real Estate Studies. The first recipients will be selected during the 2019-2020 term.
The SIOR Utah Chapter recently turned a $2,500 yearly donation into an annual scholarship of $10,000 by partnering with the Foundation and the University of Utah. The scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in the Master of Real Estate Development Program at the University of Utah’s Eccles School of Business. Meet the first recipient of the SIOR Utah Scholarship Award.
These chapters join the growing list of SIOR chapters that have created programs designed to maximize their philanthropic efforts. Chapters like St. Louis, Houston/Gulf Coast, Oregon, and the Carolinas, have partnered with their local universities who have in turn agreed to match—dollar for dollar—the combined donation of the Chapter and the SIOR Foundation. There is no easier way to turn $6,000 into $24,000! For more information on how your chapter can get the biggest bang for its buck, please visit the SIOR Foundation website, or call 202.449.8208.
Fundraising efforts to support our grant and scholarship programs this year are in full swing! Here are just a few ways you can support YOUR SIOR Foundation:
The SIOR Foundation’s Immediate Past President, Bill Ginder, SIOR, recently had the pleasure to meet with the 2019 Houston Chapter’s scholarship winners: Kyle Doerre, Hannah Solomon, and Whitney Allen. Thanks to a partnership with Texas A&M, the Houston SIOR Chapter, and the SIOR Foundation, these three talented Aggies were each given $8,000 scholarships.
In July, the SIOR Foundation partnered with SIOR and the Real Estate Executive Council (REEC) to sponsor a two-week immersive program for gifted and talented high school students at Cornell University. David Schiller, SIOR, and other SIOR Foundation Trustees played a pivotal role in the success of the program. According to Dave, “NEXUS enabled the students to learn about career paths in real estate as it endeavors to develop young – and future - leaders. NEXUS helps us to be confident that the support we offer will have an impact on the lives of young people. It inspires us to be better and to continue to extend a helping hand to the young people in the program.” Read more about the program and Dave's thoughts by clicking below.
